Events next year show as day-name instead of month-day

I’ve created events in the future, for November 2017 and they display as “VR” and “ZA”. (These are the Dutch abbreviations for Friday and Saturday.)

Note this is the .list-dayname class which contains the wrong text.

I assume the check only contains month and not year, but I’m unsure how to check this.
