As much as I love WP, I was never a fan of its default widget system. Perhaps this was due to my long Joomla experience and my growing familiarity with its module management system, which i thought to be awesome. In its default form, WordPress widgets lack flexibility. You can only do that much with a widget “fixed” on every page of your site. Scenarios requiring different contents depending on the page had to be handled in some other way.

As often is the case with other freelancers, I knew exactly what i needed (widget flexibility) and i needed it fast because, deadlines. Extensive research and most importantly, disappointment from similar abandoned “solutions” urged me to take a shot at Widget Options, and I’m glad I did.

– Straightforward, clean and user friendly interface, which allowed me to jump straight back to work.
– Performed exactly as expected, which totally offloaded time consuming debug sessions.
– Provided much more than I needed, without bloating up my WP work area or performance, since a settings panel allows me to switch features ON and OFF.
– The tight integration within the WP widgets themselves, allowed me to easily “educate” my clients on changing their widgetized contents and layouts on the fly.
– EFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED. A non-critical bug was discovered and I submitted a ticket. No more than 10 minutes later I was already in the middle of a conversation with the developer, who spotted the issue, prepared the solution and provided an update. You don’t get such levels of responsiveness with many developers out there (even on highly critical issues). Thank you Jeffrey once again for your promptness.

My widgets are now fun. Overall, very pleased and in a position to highly recommend it. An upgrade to the Extended version is a no-brainer.
