Recently I installed Easy Updates Manager plug-in and to try to make a long story short, I discovered one of my WordPress installations had the php files associated with updates and the config file modified by Cpanel so it could take over auto update responsibilities. This in effect retarded some of the functionality of Easy Update Manager.
The main point here though is I bet there may be a lot of WordPress users out there that did a 1-click WordPress install through Cpanel and don’t realize what Cpanel did to their settings. For some reason my install was reporting the version was 4.4.2 when the current version is 4.7.2 and it was saying it was current! Not sure if this is Cpanel saying this is as far as we’ve tested and so we won’t install anything newer yet, or just something was wonky/broken on my system.
