Hello all,

I have a question from a client. They have a custom hierarchical taxonomy with a lot of terms in it. They are having trouble finding the terms they wish to assign when editing a given post.
They have therefore requested a search function or filter in the taxonomy metabox.
A quick google shed no light on how to do this. I can’t find any plugins available which would achieve this.

I found a similar request here http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/20921/how-can-i-create-a-taxonomy-meta-box-with-search-suggestions-but-no-new-terms-in but no solution as provided for the search part of the question.

Surely this is a common problem / request… So has anyone come up with a solution?

So far my only idea is a custom query filter or auto complete such as https://jqueryui.com/autocomplete/ but I feel there should be a built in solution or a plugin which already exists given the functionality is already in the menu manager.

Thanks,
Nicole
