testimonials push the social icons down in Twenty Seventeen

I’m using Twenty Seventeen and I have placed two slideshow widgets within the footer, which I have evened out at 45%, 45%. The first 2 testimonials display perfectly, then when they change, and the one on the left is a slightly different size than the one before it (still easily fitting within the footer), the social icons in the white band beneath the footer move up until the tops of the icons touch the top of the white band, whereas they had been centered. Once they move, they stay there. I’d like to know what to do to keep the icons from moving.
